Additional assumed routes of infection for stray animals are represented by the contact with other infected animals [63] or by exposure to a contaminated environment, such as public surfaces and the sewage system [64,65].
Previous studies reported a higher seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 in male unneutered pets, which suggests a behavioral or hormonal aspect to the infection with SARS-CoV-2 [20,53,60].
